Paestum became an important city for Greek first and for Roman later.
This is why in the ruins area of Paestum we can admire both Greek and Roman cultures.
The Archaeological area of Paestum offers also a museum where admire the most important reperts of both populations.
This flat area is also a spectacular landscape because of the very short distance between the plurimillenial monuments and the local farms.
The local farms are mostly for Water Buffalo and their milk is used by local cheesemaker to produce the fresh cheese properly called Mozzarella.
In this area there are several factories where set a visit of the farm and stop for a memorable lunch.
Their products as fresh mozzarella cheese, “ricotta” and aged cheese are simple results of Water Buffalo milk lavoration.
If you are lucky to get there on time to assist their lavoration, you will learn how they make the delicious fresh Mozzarella cheese.
Then the visit of the farm will complete your knowledge about this so hard job.
That’s a great combination between interesting ancient history and delicious new flavours.
